Test and Review of the Avermedia Aver HD PVR – HDMI Capture Card – 1280 x 720

Buy the Aver HD PVR: www.amazon.com Test of the NEW Avermedia HD PVR which was released in November 2009 by Avermedia. * PLEASE NOTE: This product has only been used for this particular review video. It was returned by the owner (PHT member) since they were unable to increase the recording bitrate manually. The filter(s) for digital recording the HDMI connection are NOT found in GraphEdit and thus there is no known method of recording the HDMI feed with 3rd party software. The Analog filters were found, so you could possibly create a GraphEdit graph to record via Analog (Component, S-video, Composite), although this was NOT tested. Since then an alternative method of recording has been used by other YT’s by directly capturing the live output of the AVER software using a 3rd party screen capture program. PLEASTE NOTE, this product is encrypted by HDCP over HDMI, so you are NOT going to be able to record Encrypted content using the HDMI connection on things such as the PS3, DVD, Blu Ray, Cable box, etc… However, you can record using the Analog Connections (Component, S-video, Composite). UPDATE: Using a screen capture program, you can manually record the Aver Media Center Program while it is outputting whatever you want to record on your monitor. This way you are bypassing the limitations (bitrate) of said program by directly capturing what it is displaying on your screen. One such screen capture program is called, FRAPS, and can be found using any Search Engine

Internet Served TV versus Cable and Satellite TV

Hi there I live up here in Western Canada. We have a choice of a cable company, and IPTV service or regular Satellite.

The company serving IPTV (Telus) has been doing it for 3 years and only has 100k customers, it simply is not taking off due to the degradation of other services (internet).

If IPTV companies want to be truly competitive, they need to drop the contracts and compete with the cable companies on price and choice and not locked in.

IPTV has several drawback I have experienced using the service available to me. Using even VDSL2 I believe it is called I can still only have 2 HD tv’s going at the same time and no more due to bandwidth limitations.

The whole infrastructe I was told needs to be upgraded and that is something like 10 years behind everyone else.

People are just too dubious and hear the horror stories that are out and about and if companies are going to lock you in with terms and conditions it just waives a red flag.

A coaxial cable can carry hundreds of different types of signal and gives less compression giving a better picture.

The whole home PVR is really really limited. Might have a shiny new microsoft media software running on the STB’s but even that is limited to what is already out there. No start at show 5 mins before broadcast and 5 mins after ending? gimmie a break.

To many glitches, it needs to mature, and that is years away.

Nvidia Display Drivers for the 21st Century

computer graphicsIf you are a game fanatic or lover of graphics, then finding new options to make the images on your PC sharp and precise includes looking at Nvidia as one of the alternative solutions for graphics.  This area is known for it’s high end applications that are available for computers, while providing technologies for graphics that help your operating system to move up a level in looks.

Nvidia is known for providing a variety of graphics that are available for all levels.  This includes graphics that are available through specific games for you to enjoy.  You can also find 3D gaming and other devices that are related to this with a combination of products for gamers, graphic designers and those interested in updated graphics for their computer.

One of the components that Nvidia provides to those looking at updated displays are display drivers that are available for better graphics.  If you download a game on a different operating system, then you will want to match your new graphics with the right driver so you don’t experience your computer moving slowly or shutting down.

Typically, Nvidia has specific drivers for the products that you are looking into for your computer.  This includes GeForce, ION, Quadro, 3D Vision, NForce, Tesla and Legacy.  These each have product series that you will need to define as well so you get the correct display drivers installed.  To install this, you will then have to move into more details, which includes the specific product and operating system you use.  If you are uncertain about these, then you can conduct an automated search to get the line up with the right products and drivers.

Not only can you look at the basic drivers that need to update with the products that you get with Nvidia, but will also need to stay informed of updates that are available through this product area.  Many of the drivers will come with updates that will remove glitches and bugs from the initial drivers, which ensures that you can continue to create and enjoy the same level of graphics.  Before downloading these, you will want to look at reviews to make sure you are getting the highest quality for your needs.

If you are interested in Nvidia products, then updating your display drivers to match the quality of graphics ensures that your computer will continue to function at it’s best.  The different drivers that are available can help you to enjoy more of 21st century graphics and gaming, while adding into a complete look for your PC.
