Discover The Truth About The Asus Motherboard

Computers can be delicate pieces of equipment and require care when repairing or building one. The motherboard is one of the most elemental parts of your system. It is designed to hold everything together while connecting it, much like the nervous system in a human body. It sends the commands from the brain of the computer to all the functioning parts. Many computers contain an Asus Motherboard within them.

Any good repair begins with recognition of your materials, in order to do so you will need to look for the Equipment Code or a FCC number. Failing that, you can also look for the model number near the white PCI slots. You can always look in the BIOS for the type of motherboard you need. Often you will need to use either: F1, F2, F10, F11 or the Delete Key as many computers are set up differently from others. You will need to restart your computer and try one of those keys, it may take a few attempts, but you will find the right one to get into the BIOS.

Taking a picture with a digital camera of how everything is connected to your computer before removing any components can be a great idea if you have never done this before. You will need a screwdriver and make sure all surfaces you will be working on and around will have no possible static build up. Ensure you are not working in a carpeted area and all hair is neatly secured as it too can cause static.

If you touch the motherboard or central processing unit or CPU when you have static build up, you could destroy them. The first thing you will need to do is put in the CPU and secure it with the clip. Then place a tiny amount of thermal paste onto the CPU. Clip or screw the heat sink or fan in place.

Your motherboard should have came with small pegs labeled for certain positions. Put the pegs in and gently set the motherboard on them, you should have screws for it, screw them in just enough to tighten them. If you do too much, the board can crack and then you will have to replace it.

Now we will begin with the power supply. It will be important to connect the cords of the power supply correctly. If there is a problem with the install of it, you may ruin the CPU and motherboard. There may be something mentioned of this if you have a manual for it or you can refer to the picture you took with the camera or the tape. There also may be pictures online if you have a second computer that you can refer to.

Be sure to connect the main hard drive to the Master slot and ensure that its SATA cords are placed in the right places. Connect any other hard drives you may have and the cords. Next any disc drives and their cords. You will want to make sure all of these are getting power from the power supply, so it is important not to forget any of them.

Next you will want to put things like your sound cards or video cards in the PCI cards unless you are using the on board cards, this would be the white slots we spoke about earlier. Make sure each of them are hooked up with power if they require it otherwise they will not function correctly. And lastly the RAM, check with the manual to see if there are any specific instructions, snap them in accordingly.
